1925 - 1940


Jean Faure Herman and Pierre Jalbert created the first (JFH) French aeronautical flow meter which got approved by the French Air Force and equipped all Air France planes. It rapidly improved with a postponement of the indications of instantaneous flow and total consumption on the pilots' dashboard.

Faure Herman invented and developed the volumetric turbine flowmeter (T series), and new patents were filed for the helical rotor, the magnetic detection of rotation and its processing by electronics and for mass flowmeters with manual density display (RM series).  

Between 1940 and 1960, the company invented and developed the turbine volumetric flowmeter to measure the increasing flow rates of jet engines. 

In 1946 after the "libération", the company will choose not to return to Paris to reward the competence and loyalty of its staff.

In 1957, in order to measure the increasing flow of jet planes, the Technical Director Serge TCHOUBAR invented the volumetric turbine flowmeter (T series), and patents were filed for the helical rotor, the magnetic detection of rotation and its processing by electronics. 

In 1959, the company filed new patents for mass flowmeters with manual density display (RM series).

1940 -1960

1960 -1980


Faure Herman filed several patents and got approved for automatic mass flowmeters (RA series). In competition with Rolls Royce, FAURE HERMAN had its flowmeter approved by the British Aerospace and Rolls Royce for the CONCORDE as an integral part of the "fuel management". Six hundred and fifty pieces of equipment will be manufactured for this mythic plane. Faure Herman diversified and developed industrial applications of the turbine in other sectors with strong technical constraints: petroleum, chemical, nuclear power, food, marine industries, etc… as well as high flow turbines. Faure Herman created the control and calibration subsidiary of MESTROLE. The Company had its turbine meter approved for commercial transactions and built of the first test benches including high temperature mass bench in La Ferté Bernard, France.

INTERTECHNIQUE bought out Faure Herman and the Company equipped most European civil and military aircraft with its flowmeters. Manufacturing licenses were granted in Great Britain and Germany. The Company expanded internationally through major engineering companies, particularly in Italy, and equipped its first refineries in the Middle East.

FAURE HERMAN then diversified and developed industrial applications of the turbine in other sectors with strong technical constraints: petroleum, chemical, nuclear, marine industries, etc. Between 1960 and 1980, high flow turbines were developed for the oil industry.  

In 1970, they created in Rouen the control and calibration subsidiary of MESTROLE. Measuring and Control instruments, headed by Jean GRUCY. It was approved by the Measuring Instruments Service (SIM), this will be the start of transactional measurement. 

In 1971, the company had its FAURE HERMAN turbine meter approved for commercial transactions, construction of the first test benches at La Ferté Bernard and the high temperature mass bench. 

In 1972, the British Aerospace ordered the pre-series and CONCORDE series. Six hundred and fifty pieces of equipment will be manufactured for the CONCORDE. 

In 1973, the SFIM bought out FAURE HERMAN, but not MESTROLE 

In 1974, INTERTECHNIQUE bought out FAURE HERMAN, which now joined the Aeronautics Group. The headquarters and the design office were moved to Plaisir (78). FAURE HERMAN will now equip most European civil and military aircraft with its flowmeters. Manufacturing licenses are granted in Great Britain and Germany. 

Since 1978, FAURE HERMAN had been expanding internationally through major engineering companies, particularly in Italy, and is equipping its first refineries in the Middle East.

1960 -1980

1980 - 2000


Faure Herman equipped all ADNOC refineries in Abu-Dhabi over a period of 3 years and lead the way with ultrasonic flowmeters. Faure Herman bought the Liquid Metering division of Schlumberger and continued to diversify by equipping mobile refueling stations for Formula 1 motor racing. 

In 1981, FAURE HERMAN recorded its largest order ($ 4 million) with the ADNOC refinery in Abu-Dhabi. It will equip all the refineries over a period of 3 years. Faure HERMAN leads the way with ultrasonic flowmeters. 

In 1986, FAURE HERMAN bought the Liquid Metering division of Schlumberger. 

In 1970, the headquarters moved to Les Ulis (91). 

The company is continuing to diversify its applications and is positioning itself in the liquid food metering market (milk, wine, drinking alcohol) with its volumetric meter. 

It also equips mobile refueling stations intended for motor racing and more particularly the Formula 1.

1980 - 2000

2000 - 2017


ZODIAC acquired INTERTECHNIQUE and separated from FAURE HERMAN. Benefiting from its expertise and its leadership position in the high-precision liquid measurement market, Faure Herman designed and developed a range of ultrasonic flowmeters for transactional and process applications. FAURE HERMAN will be bought in 2007 by the American group IDEX LIQUID CONTROLS, and for 10 years will markets the TZN CUS turbine flowmeter to meet pipeline type applications containing additives, chemicals, etc… and develop on the American market within the IDEX group. 

In 2004, ZODIAC separated from FAURE HERMAN to refocus on its aeronautical and marine activities. 

Benefiting from its expertise and its leadership position in the high-precision liquid measurement market, Faure Herman designs and develops a range of ultrasonic flowmeters for transactional and process applications. 

After a stint at Cyclade, FAURE HERMAN will be bought in 2007 by the American group IDEX LIQUID CONTROLS, and for 10 years will develop on the American market within the IDEX group. 

Faure Herman markets the TZN CUS turbine flowmeter to meet pipeline type applications containing additives, chemicals, etc.… 

Using this technology, the TZN CUS is reliable and insensitive to the effects of these chemical additives (fibers in suspension) and to charged oils (wax, sand, etc.…).

2017 - Present


Faure Herman joined the French group LE GARREC & Cie to complete the O&G downstream activities of ALMA Group. The company massively reinvested in industrial equipment (new 4500 m3/h calibration bench with cooling system and CNC machines) and technology and acquired Ultraflux in order to diversify its product line (ultrasonic clamp-on), its activity sectors (water, energy) and geographical reach (Asia). 

Everything is in place for us to embrace the future together!
